A group of Mattawan XC alumni recently held their annual golf outing in memory of their friend and former teammate, Johnny Schreiber, MHS Class of 2021. Each summer they get together to remember Johnny, celebrate his life, and keep his memory going. This year, they decided to take the proceeds from the outing and give them back to the Mattawan Cross Country program. Johnny ran XC at Mattawan, and I learned that XC Camp was one of his favorite parts of being on the team. Pretty cool knowing that years later, his friends and former teammates are still connected through XC and are now giving back to the next generation of Mattawan runners. A huge thank you to the Schreiber family and our Mattawan XC alumni for thinking of our program and continuing to honor Johnny in such a meaningful way. This is what being part of a team and program is all about. His legacy runs on. One Team. One Pack.
